And We Dwelt in a Tent

About

Hello! My name is Amanda Herring, and I'm so glad you're here. For the last 10 years, I have been designing artwork for licensing on fabric, jewelry, scrapbook paper and home decor items. A few years ago, I was called as camp director for my ward, truly my favorite calling in the church! While at this girls camp, I was inspired to create LDS art that was patterned after the original WPA national park posters. The first idea was, of course, to create one of girls camp. It took 3 years, and lots and lots of courage to finally make the jump.

I have a deep love for the national parks and for the original WPA national park posters created in the 30’s and 40’s. It was my desire to tell the story of my faith through this beloved style.

I have always been impressed with the sacrifices of Lehi and his family.

1 Nephi 2:4 And it came to pass that he departed into the wilderness. And he left his house, and the land of his inheritance, and his gold, and his silver, and his precious things, and took nothing with him, save it were his family, and provisions, and tents, and departed into the wilderness.

This admiration, combined with my deep love of girls camp (and camping in general) brought me to the idea that this was the perfect name for my business.

There are lots of plans for future artwork, but I would love to hear about anything you want to see. Drop me a note from the contact page, and I will put your ideas on the list . I am excited and honored to be sharing my vision of my religion, beliefs and culture, both past and present.
